Bass & Associates, P.C., Honored for Community Service

Bass & Associates, P.C., a nationally recognized collections and bankruptcy law firm in Tucson, has been awarded the 2018 Community Service Award by the National Creditors Bar Association for its program that provides monthly giving opportunities for its employees.

The award was presented at the NCBA’s 25th anniversary breakfast in Nashville, Tennessee, in October. Patti H. Bass, Founder, President and CEO of Bass & Associates, accepted the award on behalf of the firm. In addition to the award that was presented at the event, the organization provided a $1,000 check to donate to a charity of choice. Bass & Associates donated the gift to Irreverent Warriors, one of the many charities it supports.

"This is wonderful recognition for our employees and all the giving they do for our community," Bass said. "Our firm and our employees feel a strong commitment to making our community better – sometimes in small ways, and always with a big heart."

According to the NCBA, its Community Service Award "is intended to recognize the member firm that has best demonstrated an overall firm commitment to and implementation of activities for the betterment of its community."

Bass & Associates supports a number of recurring community programs and projects including:

∙Irreverent Warriors "Silkies Hike" in support of veteran suicide prevention. The mission of Irreverent Warriors is to bring veterans together using humor and camaraderie to heal the mental wounds of war through therapeutic events and entertainment. Bass volunteers collect water and Gatorade for the month leading to the hike, and then distribute refreshments at relief stations for the veterans who participate in the hike known as "22 with 22 for the 22." The numbers signify the length of the walk in kilometers and the 22 kilograms of weight each veteran carries in honor of the 22 service members who commit suicide daily in the U.S.

∙Beads of Courage, a program that supports and strengthens children and their families coping with serious illness. In April, Bass & Associates employees made Beads of Courage Strength Bracelets to wear and to give to children coping with life-threatening illnesses.

∙Community Food Bank drive. Each November employees collect for and give to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona for the Thanksgiving holiday.

"The monthly opportunities are designed to include a wide range of programs that will impact a broad spectrum of society," Bass said. "We hope to reach children, animals, the homeless, the elderly, cancer victims and service members among others."
